19:21 Phr33d0m davic what's so unstable about 'debian unstable'? and what makes "arch > *"? ;-) many years have passed since I lost my distro-biasing feel, where nowadays everything happens upstream and distros are composed of 95% packagers and 5% patchers
21:36 davic Phr33d0m, In general Deepin OS just felt heavy and unstable. Might be different now though
21:36 davic I like arch because of the customization I can choose
21:37 Phr33d0m sure, but I feel that the purpose of deepin is to atract a kind of userbase highly new to linux
21:41 davic Yeah yeah I agree with that
21:41 davic the OS isn't just the best
21:41 davic the DE is great though, it was the reason I moved to linux
21:41 davic every other DE looks like someone at the age of 12 made in Paint
21:42 davic its a bit heavy on ram and laptop battery though, but it is to expeted
21:43 Phr33d0m well to be honest, the only reason there's "unstable" in the "debian unstable" name is because debian is known for keeping ancient packages around, like forever, and with the "unstable" branch they try to keep things the most up-to-date like arch does
21:44 davic Phr33d0m, what I mean with unstable is crashes, hanging etc
21:44 Phr33d0m oh
21:44 Phr33d0m I haven't had such an experience
21:44 davic For example there was forced opensource nvidia drivers which wasnt being able to be removed
21:44 Phr33d0m what
21:45 [E-l-i] joined #deepin
21:45 Phr33d0m I've always used the propietary nvidia and removed nouveau
21:45 davic couldn't remove nouveau
21:45 Phr33d0m and never had issues with doing so, sure every distro might have a little tweak here and there but it's not impossible
21:45 davic and it wasnt just me according to forum posts
21:45 Phr33d0m huh
21:45 davic It was really weird
21:46 Phr33d0m welp, imma install deepin os on my grandma's computer and see how it goes
21:46 davic but anyway
21:46 davic I can recommend deepin DE on arch
21:46 Phr33d0m this will show how a complete newbie even to computers will handle it
21:47 davic all Deepin apps are on arch except software center etc
21:47 Phr33d0m I'll try the DE on my arch some of these days, although being a huge KDE fan I doubt I'll end up switching
21:47 davic I really like it
21:48 davic It won me over
21:48 davic I just dislike the control panel a bit
21:48 davic but they seem to pretty it up a bit
